We strive to share the joys and educational merits of creative writing in the St. The river was believed to encircle Hades nine times. STYX (Stux), connected with the verb stuge, to hate or abhor, is the name of the principal river in the nether world, around which it flows seven times. Workshops and OutreachĪs a local arts nonprofit, River Styx is also committed to its community. The River Styx was a river which formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld (Hades). Since 1998, we have also had our other reading series, Hungry Young Poets, which runs in the summer.

Amazingly we got confirmation that Angels indeed accompany souls upon passing on October 16, 2021. In Greek mythology, it's crossing the 'River Styx', down into the underworld. After its beginning in Duff’s restaurant, which closed in 2013, the series moved to the Tavern of Fine Arts until it closed in 2016. Ever since the Orbs & Angels appeared here in northern New Jersey, they've been slowly sharing what's beyond the veil, their realm. River Styx Reading Series has had several homes over the past twenty years. We hold several events throughout the year, including a reading series on the third Monday of the month.
